The Glass Menagerie

Here is a tiny fairy tale I wrote for my nieces--Lucy, Sophie and Lyla--when I gave them a pretty blue broken glass cat I found in my cupboard...

The Glass Menagerie

Snobinetta was a rich and spoilt little girl--who could have anything she wanted. She saw a pretty blue glass cat in a shop window. Now Snobinetta ''loved'' the little cat, and kept him for many days on her mantelpiece.

Alas, but one day she accidentally dropped the blue glass cat, and one of his ears broke into a thousand pieces, and couldn't--in a million years!--ever be mended. Snobinetta, dissatisfied with ''imperfection'', tossed the little blue glass cat--now with a broken heart, as well!--into the glass recycling bin, to be melted down.

Lucy, Sophie and Lyla were putting out glass jars and bottles to be recycled, when they espied the little blue glass cat with a broken ear and a broken heart. They rescued him from the trash and gave him a new home on their window sill, by the rainbow crystals.

The little blue glass cat lived happily ever after; and so, too, did Lucy 'n Sophie 'n Lyla.

THE END
